Foreign dignitaries and heads of state have been ceremoniously received at the Victorian era Smithsonian Castle, amid exhibits emphasizing the origins and development of the Smithsonian and the city it inhabits. The West Range, for which this piece is named, is a portion of the Castle traditionally used for small receptions. A graceful piece in any setting, the West Range Buffet has classical lines and elegant carved and fluted posts on each end. Three doors conceal adjustable shelves and are presented in rich pin knotty cherry veneers with a Castle Brick finish. Two top drawers include felt-wrapped pads and the center drawer features a silverware insert with the Smithsonian Collection by Bernhardt emblem.
